The fact is, Mo Farah defended his 2009 Torino win. He did it in a very tactical race, but he also showed a more profound understanding of what he was out there to do: make a long run for home and win the race.

The pace was pedestrian, a 2:52 for the first 1,000 meters. Mo Farah took off after the 1,000 meters, running the next 1,000 meters in 2:34, and the final 1,000 meters in a gut-wrenching 2:26, with his last 200 in just under 27 seconds!

One time, 1976 Olympic gold medalist John Walker was asked what type of crowd he wanted in an Olympic final. He noted, not joking as much as the writer thought, that he preferred a field of senior citizens. Walker noted that being a favorite in an Olympic final is a very difficult situation-the pressure alone has to eat at the athlete.
Mo Farah is on the cusp of some great races, and we look forward to seeing him run more races like we saw at the 2011 European Indoor Champs. Farah, along with his family, is moving to Portland, Oregon to train with Alberto Salazar and his Oregon Project. Farah’s training partner will be Galen Rupp. We wish them good luck in 2011 and beyond!
