Kellie Wells is the 2011 US champion at the 100 meter hurdles. In that event, she faced the 2008 Olympic champion, the 2008 and 2010 World indoor champion, and every US champion for the last half dozen years.

The 100 meter hurdles may be the most difficult event to make a U.S. team in! In fact, LoLo Jones, a two time World Indoor champion, did not make the final!

Kellie Wells, coming back from a horrific injury at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials, Kellie is back and competing well! Her emotional reaction to  her win caught many by surprise, but, there is not much about this amazing women that would not surprise many of her fans.

In a story about her life as a child, which included a long time abusive relationship, Kellie Wells honestly tells her life story in a piece from the Postgame. A stronger women you will not meet. If the story does not bring tears to your eyes, then, you should check your pulse, as you are probably not human.

Seriously, after what she has endured, Kellie Wells obviously has the focus and drive to go the whole way in her sport.

(Thanks to observant readers Jill Geer and Katie Landry for updating me about this story).
