Yangfeng Li surprised Nadine Muller of Germany to take the gold. Muller took the silver. Yarelys Barrios of Cuba took the bronze in the women's discus. Here is how RBR saw it:

Yangfeng Li of China took the gold medal in the women's discus, with a second attempt throw of 66.52 meters. Her series was 65.28m, 66.52m, 65.50m, 64.32m, 64.34m, 63.83m.

Nadine Muller of Germany took the silver medal with a second attempt throw of 65.97 meters. Her series was 65.06m, 65.97m, 64.08m, 62.55m, foul, foul.

Yarelys Barrios of Cuba was the bronze medalist with a throw of 65.73 meters, her seasonal best. Her series was foul, 61.87m, 65.73m, 63.93m, foul, 63.90m.

In fourth was Zaneta Glanc of Poland, with a best throw of 63.91 meters. Her series was 63.91m, 62.30m, 63.11m, 62.69m, 62.17m, 60.32m.

In fifth was Olympic champion Stephanie Trafton-Brown of the US, with a best throw of 63.85 meters. Her series was 60.20m, 60.97m, 60.24m, 63.85m, 60.26m, foul.

In sixth place, Jian Tan of China, with a throw of 62.96 meters. Her series was 60.46m, 61.44m, 61.79m, 62.96m, foul, 61.12m.

Dani Samuels, the 2009 World Champion, did not fare well, finishing tenth with a throw of 59.14 meters. Yarelys Barrios was the silver medalist in 2009, now she is the bronze. Nadine Muller of Germany was sixth last time, this time she is the silver medalist.
