Jon Cook
Jon Cook, one of the athletes from the Golden era of California high school distance running, has died of ALS. This thoughtful note was provided by Ralph Serna, who, with many others, has a wonderful email list of that era, and keeps us mindful of some of the great runners from that time. Keep Jon and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
Anyone interested in the funeral arrangements, email me at runblogrun@gmail.com and I will pass on the info from Ralph as it is announced.

"With heavy heart I'm sending you the sad news of Jon Cook's passing. He passed away yesterday of ALS. He fought a good fight since the summer of 2010 and had a positive attitude through it all and to the end.
Many of you competed and trailed Jon in races as I did. Jon ran for Mission Viejo HS and graduated in 1975 with PRs of 51.1, 1:52.9, 4:11.1, 9:27.0. Later he competed for Athletes In Action.
He was a good runner but more importantly he was a great human being.
I'll pass on details of his services to all who are interested."
