Brittney Reese won the long jump in London, taking her first Olympic medal. She now adds that to two gold medals in the long jump at World Outdoors and Indoors. A former basketball player, like Jenn Suhr, Reese is one of the top natural athletes on the US track & field team. Amazingly competitive, Reese has won more than one major event on a last jump!

Here she provides some thoughts, courtesy of our friends in the press team at Athletissima Lausanne!

Updated 22 August 2012: 7:45 pm, updated Brittney competing in Zurich and her goals, per her management.

« I won at Athletissima back in 2010 and 2011. I then had some ups and downs but I came to Lausanne to win. It will be the final meeting of the season." (Editor's note: Brittney's management notes that she will now be jumping in Zurich DL, on 30 August).

"After the Olympic Games, I celebrated with my family so in Stockholm my legs were a bit tired. Today I found my rhythm of competition.

"Until now, I jumped 7m20, the objective for 2013 is 7m30 and next year (2014) 7m40."

"Back in College, I tried the triple jump but the results were not that great. I rather like the high jump and I managed to jump 1m88."

"Since I won the gold medal nothing has really changed. I am still training to make good results.

"It is true, after winning the gold medal I get more attention but I am grateful for that."

"When I want to relax, I like sitting around and listening to music or doing shopping. I am also into fashion. My plan would be to create my own brand."

"In some stadiums boards are better than others and give you extra power to jump higher."
