This is the HOKA ONE ONE Bondi 2. It is the first of our daily reviews, coming from our partner, www.runningproductreviews.com

Hoka has created a stir with its radically different look and feel, few people neutral about its design. The upper is open mesh and synthetic leather,  traditional though its rounded shape reflects the effect of the much taller sole. The fit is a bit on the short side, so make sure you try on your typical size as well as going up to find your best fitting shoe.

The midsole has 4.5 millimeter geometry allowing an efficient landing, but is rigid because of its thickness, so has a rocker shape to offset the lack of flexibility - the shoe literally rolls through the gait. The ride takes some getting used to, but the transition is often pretty quick. The outersole is thin, full-length carbon rubber, no need for extra cushion here, and is grippy as well as durable. The Hoka focus is on cushioning and efficiency, with a premium on cushioning.
