Sergey Bubka has been the best pole vaulter in the world for nearly two decades. He set the world record over two dozen times (actually 35 times, I believe). The Pole Vault Stars event is a brilliant event (on my bucket list). That is he is following Renaud Lavillenie is not new news. But, it is recent that Lavillenie is focused on going higher and higher. Much of it seems as admiration. In the few times I have been fortunate to speak to Mr. Bubka, his knowledge of the event is amazing and his knowledge of the athletes coming up and realization of what it takes to climb over six meters and six meter plus is first hand....
