Douglas Wakiihuri, the first Kenyan champion in London, was also an Olympic silver medalist in 1988, and 1987 World Champion. His win was full of drama, as Wakiihiru, the Kenyan champion trained in Japan, never lead til near the very end of the race, as the trio of Steve Moneghetti, Ahmed Salah of Djibouti and Wakiihuri duked it out.

The fascinating interview was done by Andy Edwards of Trackwise and Globerunner.
