ST PAUL (USA, Oct 4): Molly Huddle and Sam Chelanga were the victors at the Medtronic TC 10 mile road race, which incorporated the USATF Championships. In an impressive solo effort, Huddle set a course record of 51:44 to win by a big margin over Neely Spence (53:03) and Alexi Pappas (53:10). The previous course record was 53:16, set by Kara Goucher in 2008. US cross country champion Laura Thweatt was fourth across the line in 53:14. The men’s race was won by Chelanga with a late surge to beat Tyler Pennel, 46:47 to 46:48. It is Chelanga’s first US title since his change of citizenship. He was 8 seconds off the course record. Dathan Ritzenhein had lost contact with the two with less than one mile to go and placed third in 46:53.
