NAIROBI (KEN): “It feels great to retain the title,” said Geoffrey Kamworor after his Saturday Kenyan Police CC Champs. He is preparing to defend his World Half Marathon title on March 26 in Cardiff, Wales. On January 31 Kamworor will run at the Discovery Cross Country Championships before defending his National Cross Country title on February 13 at Uhuru Gardens. “I want to prepare for the half marathon,” said Kamworor, who hinted he may be looking to break the 58:23 World record held by Eritrean Zersenay Tadese. After injury returning Augustin Choge who was 2nd on Saturday said it has been a tough battle with a tendon injury. He is seeking a place in 3000 m team to the World Indoor Championships. Choge said he drew inspiration from his close friend David Rudisha, who made a great return and won this year the World title. Informs Daily Nation.
Editor’s note: Geoffrey Kamworor is one of the finest runners to come out of Kenya. His battle with Mo Farah last summer in Beijing was pretty impressive. Can he break the World record for the half marathon? We think so!
