NEW YORK (USA): Former winner Meb Keflezighi will retire at next year’s edition of the New York Marathon. “So HAPPY to announce that I’ll conclude my marathon career at the 2017 @nycmarathon,” he said on Twitter. Keflezighi also looks set to race the Boston Marathon as well next April in his farewell season.
RunBlogRun Opines: Meb Keflezighi has become the most popular marathoner in America the old fashioned way: he earned it. From his brilliant silver medal in the heat and humidy of Athens in 2004, to his amazing win in NYC in 2009. And then, in 2014, to the delight of Boston Marathon fans, Meb held on in a tight race to become the first American male to win the iconic race since 1983.
