England team for Gold Coast
BIRMINGHAM (GBR): England has announced a 75-strong team for the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast next April. After missing out on the World Championships in London due to injury, Greg Rutherford will be defending his title in the long jump while Katarina Johnson-Thompson will be competing in the heptathlon. Top names on the track include Adam Gemili (100m), Zharnel Hughes and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (200m), Matthew Hudson-Smith (400m), Kyle Langford (800m) and Andrew Pozzi (110m hurdles) on the men’s side and Dina Asher-Smith (200m), Laura Weightman (5000m) and Tiffany Porter (100m hurdles) on the women’s side. Other standout names include Nick Miller (hammer), Tom Bosworth (20km walk), Holly Bradshaw (pole vault), Shara Proctor and Lorraine Ugen (long jump), Morgan Lake (high jump) and Sophie Hitchon (hammer). The Commonwealth Games take place between 4-15 April with the athletics programme is staged from 8-15 April.
