VAL DE REUIL (FRA, Jan 27): Superb 1500 m race highlighted the Eure Meeting as Ethiopan Samuel Tefera (born 1999) clocked 3:36.05 World Junior (U20) record. Current mark from Belal Mansoor of Bahrain is 3:36.28 from 2007. Behind him global star Abdalaati Iguider 3:36.87 and third another Moroccan Brahim Kaazouzi 3:37.15. Kenyan Justus Soget as fourth also dipped under 3:40 with 3:38.47 (6th best all-time U20). Another World lead and national record for Burkina Faso by Hugues Fabrice Zango 17.23 in the triple jump. He clearly beat Alexis Copello 16.74 and Nelson Evora 16.38. Wilfred Koffi of Ivory Coast beat favorites in the 60 m with 6.63, Richard Kilty as second also 6.63 and third US Mike Rodgers 6.67. Jarret Eaton after 2nd place in Ostrava won the hurdles in 7.59 and in unusual 400 m hurdles Juander Santos 50.78 NR beat Spanish Sergio Fernandez 50.82 NR. Kevin Mayer clocked personal best 7.82 as fifth (also 200 cm in high jump). In women events Poland´s Ewa Swoboda won the 60 m in 7.27 and surprise win for Hungarian Luca Kozak 8.09 in the hurdles new national U23 record. Moroccans dominated the 800 m, Rababe Arafi won in 2:02.49 and Malika Akkaoui was 3rd 2:02.94, in-between Shelayna Oskan-Clarke 2:02.90. Greek World indoor bronze winner Paraskevi Papahristou started the season with a 14.25 win over Rouguy Diallo 14.22 PB and Spain´s Ana Peleteiro 14.20 (equaled indoor PB). Kataryba Tabashnyk won the high jump 190.
