The current contagion has stopped athletics events. It looks like some enthusiastic meet managers hope to host their events while the virus is slowing down, we hope, in August and September 2020.

TURKU (FIN): Discus World champion Daniel Stahl confirmed his participation at the Paavo Nurmi Games, the WA Continental Tour Gold meet which was rescheduled for August 11. “I’m looking forward to competing in Turku, it’s one of my favourite arenas. I will of course visit my grandmother, play card and eat some Finnish treatsm,” said the discus thrower who´s mother was born in Turku and his grandmother still lives in Turku. Also Olympic javelin champion Thomas Röhler Flag of Germany hopes to be throwing at the meet. Currently it looks as if Turku will be the first World Athletics Continental Tour gold level meeting, to take place this year. Organisers are planning to accept up to 3000 spectators and want to stick by that even when the restrictions will allow more.
