This is Wednesday, August 10, 2022. It is Day 3, Week six of the 2022 RunBlogRun Summer Cross Country Mileage Program. We help you get into shape in eight weeks of summer running, as you prepare for the Fall Cross country season.
The picture we posted on this article today needs some explaining. This is Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Jakob is one of three brothers who race at elite levels for Norway. They were coached, for most of their careers, by their father, Gert. They are rock stars in Norway. They have a reality show that is watched by all of Norway. I have watched several episodes on YouTube and am hooked.
In 2019, Jakob took fifth in the 5,000 meters and 6th in the 1,500 meters. The young Norwegian put it all on the line, and he learned a lot in 2019.
In 2021, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, with all of Norway cheering, won the gold medal in the 1,500 meters in the Tokyo Olympics. At the recent World Champs, Jakob took silver in the 1,500 meters, and gold in the 5,000 meters. The picture shows Jakob at the finish line of the 5,000 meters, giving his country, Norway, their only gold in the World Champs. Next week, Jakob will compete in the European Champs, August 15-21, you will be able to follow it on runblogrun as I will post a link to the European athletics Live blog, which i will be writing.
