BUDAPEST (HUN, Aug 12): Mondo Duplantis highlighted the Gyulai István Memorial – Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix (WACT Gold) with his thirteenth world record in the pole vault. Excellent meeting, with the first world record at the Gyulai István Memorial in history, was attended by 15,000 visitors in a sold out National Athletics Centre. Duplantis broke the record height of 629cm on his second attempt (562/xo, 582/o, 602/o, 611/xo, 629/xo). Emmanouil Karalis finished second (602) and Kurtis Marschall (582) third. Bence Halász delighted the home crowds with a world lead and personal best of 83.18 (77.80-80.06-81.85-80.95-83.18-81.90) in the hammer, ahead of Ethan Katzberg (81.88) and Mykhaylo Kokhan (80.84). Joe Kovacs 22.33 in the shot put over Tom Walsh (21.52), with Leonardo Fabbri NM, Germany’ Simon Batz 807 (-0.3) in the long jump ahead of Miltiadis Tentoglou 805 (-0.4), Tina Šutej 473 in the pole vault, Claire Bryant 671 (0.4) in the long jump, and surprisingly Naota Hasegawa 227 =PB in the high jump.
