LAUSANNE (SUI, Aug 19): Greek record holder Emmanouil Karalis won his first DL meeting with 602 third attempt cleaeance. In rainy conditions he did not continue. “It was raining, and the conditions were very hard, but I had so much energy from the Greek flags and the atmosphere. I really wanted to jump over six meters, and it was a good night for sure. It is very dangerous to jump in the rain, but thanks to the organizers who helped, I was able to clear six meters today. When the conditions are good, I will be able to jump even higher,” he said. Thibaut Collet (Tokyo standard) and Renaud Lavillenie (16th appearance at Athletissima) tied for 2nd with 582 in first attempt. In fourth Ersu Sasma 582 in second attempt (passed 592 and tried at NR 602) and fifth Menno Vloon also 582 in second attempt but had one more failure at 562. In 6th Sam Kendricks 572 who was confirmed as last qualifier for DL final and another favorite Kurtis Marschall non-heighted at 562.
