#CoffeewithLarry, October 8, 2025, Episode 795, filmed in Naperville, Illinois at the DoubleTree by Hilton, for our coverage of the 2025 Bank of America Chicago Marathon week, October 6-12, 2025.
This is my daily chat with #RunBlogRun viewers and track fans on all things track & field!
This is Coffee with Larry for Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Episode 795.
Our coverage of the 2025 Bank of America Chicago marathon is a collaboration between #NIKErunning and #RunBlogRun.
Our topics;
1. The Chicago Marathon is one of the most iconic marathons in our sport. I have attended nearly all (missed a year, I believe) since 1990.
2. Carey Pinkowski, Mike Nishi and their team have built this race over the past 35 years into one of the world’s finest and fastest marathons.

3. This years’ races will feature elite men’s fields with a good shot at the World record and a strong women’s elite marathon field who will be battling with the fastest women’s marathons of 2025.
4. John Korir, defending champ of Chicago and Boston, is here to race sub 2:02! What can he do?

5. Connor Mantz, top American at Boston 2025, with a 2:05.08 at the Boston course, is racing in Chicago to break the American record (2003), by Khalid Khannouchi, of 2:05.38. The Chicago marathon course is record-compliant; the Boston course is not.

6. I spoke about the ban of Ruth Chepngetich and wondered what the women’s WR is at this time. That will continue to be discussed. Do we want to go back to Paula Radcliffe’s time from 2003 in London (2:15.25) or Tigst Assefa’s 2023 time at Berlin (2:11:58). Each was mind-blowing for their time.
7. The pressers are on Thursday and Friday, and #RunBlogRun will be there, covering the pressers LIVE and providing columns and interviews with the top elite and players in the sport.

9. Here’s our first piece in our collaboration with NIKE on the joys and struggles of cross country, #JourneytoCompete! This story is on the origins of NIKE NXN! https://www.runblogrun.com/2025/10/103726.html?swcfpc=1
