Ngetich 63:08 WL, third fastest half ever
VALENCIA (ESP, Oct 26): Kenya’s Agnes Ngetich ran the third fastest time in history in the Valencia Half Marathon (WA Gold Label), winning in a world lead of 63:08. Only Ngetich herself (63:04) and world record-holder Letesenbet Gidey (62:52) have ever run faster. Ngetich was inside world record pace through 10km in 29:18 and 15km in 44:36 before slowing in the last six kilometres. “I know I have the world record in my legs and my splits were inside that pace until 15km,” she said. Ngetich won by more than one minute from Ethiopia’s Fotyen Tesfay (65:11) and Kenya’s Veronica Loleo (65:46 PB). Debuting Klara Lukan was the leading European in seventh in a Slovenian record of 68:04 while Alessia Zarbo set a French record of 68:20 in eighth.
