Azimeraw and Cheptegei won Kolkata 25K
KOLKATA (IND, Dec 21): Olympic 10,000m champion Joshua Cheptegei defeated world marathon champion Alphonce Simba in the Tata Steel World 25K (WA Gold Label) in Kolkata, 1:11:49 to 1:11:56, with Lesotho’s Tebello Ramakongoana third in 1:11:59. Degitu Azimeraw took her second career win in this race in 1:19:36, leading an Ethiopian 1-2-3 from Sutume Kebede (1:20:28) and Meselech Alemayehu (1:20:48). The top Indian finishers were Gulveer Singh who finished fifth in the men’s race in 1:12:06 and Seema in tenth in the women’s race in 1:26:04.
