Editor’s note: Ostrava hosts, indoor and outdoor, two of the finest meets in the word. Both are on my bucket list. Watch for some world leaders from this one!
OSTRAVA (CZE): World indoor champion Prudence Sekgodiso headlines the 800m at the Czech Indoor Gala on 3 February. Sekgodiso will face world indoor silver medallist Nigist Getachew in the 800m along with European silver medallist Gabriela Gajanova. Ethiopia’s Birke Haylom will look to challenge the meeting record of 4:01.03 in the 1500m and faces a field including Portugal’s European indoor silver medallist Salome Afonso and Great Britain’s double European U20 champion Innes FitzGerald. The men’s 800m will be a repeat of the European indoor finalist with Samuel Chapple, Elliot Crestan and Mark English – the gold, silver and bronze medallists respectively – all due to compete along with Czechia’s Jakub Dudycha and Botswana’s Kethobogile Haingura who makes his indoor debut.
