There is always magic in Boston. This year, however, in version 31, was pretty special. For this writer, who has attended 28 of the 31 meetings, the magic in the air, the enthusiasm of the athletes, fans and staff was, well palpable. The magic time? It began with the 2000 meters, where Hobbs Kessler and Grant Fisher battled each other, through the finish, and it went through the Men’s 300 meters, where Jereem Richards just held off the hard-charging Noah Lyles.
For the sponsor, New Balance, the event was held in the house that Jim Davis built. Jim Davis is the man who, saw into the future and purchase a modest footwear company in 1972 and built it into the largest privately held sporting footwear and apparel brand in the world.
The TRACK at New Balance is a palacial spot for our sport, a true sanctuary to the sport. The fans, all five thousand of them, are basked in natural light from tremendous windows, and there is not a poor seat in the facility.
The athletes gave it their all on that wonderful day in Boston.
I jumped into a Lyft post event and rushed to the airport, anxious to avoid Snowmageddon, as I had a marathon in Dubai to cover.
But that, dear friends, will be the next part of the story, “LarrysMostExcellentAdventure2026”
