MADRID (ESP): The Meeting Madrid (WIT Gold) on Friday will be highlighted by a world indoor 1000m record attempt by Mohamed Attaoui. The mark to beat stands at 2:14.20 by Djibouti’s Ayanleh Souleiman from 2016. The field also includes fellow Spaniards Adrian Ben and Mariano Garcia. Fresh from a 1:57.49 season’s debut, Audrey Werro runs her second 800 of the season while world and Olympic 10,000m silver medallist Nadia Battocletti makes her first serious appearance in the 1500m indoors against a field including Ethiopia’s Birke Haylom, who is unbeaten indoors in 2026, and world U20 champion Saron Berhe. Uruguay’s Valentin Soca, Portugal’s Jose Carlos Pinto and Ethiopians Getnet Wale, Ermias Girma and Milkesa Fikadu are among the leading entrants for the men’s 3000m.

MADRID (ESP): Enrique Llopis will be aiming for victory on home soil in the 60m hurdles at the Meeting Madrid. Llopis headlines a strong field which includes European outdoor champion Lorenzo Simonelli, who beat Llopis for 110m hurdles gold in Rome, world and European indoor silver medallist Wilhem Belocian and 2022 European champion Asier Martinez. European indoor champion Lieke Klaver will be looking for back-to-back victories in the 400m after opening her season with a win in Ostrava against strong Spanish opposition including European indoor bronze medallist Paula Sevilla. Laeticia Bapte and Alaysha Johnson are among the leading entrants for the women’s 60m hurdles. Field event highlights include Jordan Geist returning to action in the shot put after a 22.04m shot put in Ostrava while the women’s long jump field includes European bronze medallist Agate de Sousa and world heptathlon bronze medallist Taliyah Brooks.
