TORUN 2026 DAY 1

QUOTES OF THE DAY

“This winter, I have been preparing in Ukraine – I was a bit tired moving from one country to another. I wanted to stay at home. We trained without electricity in really cold halls, but the sweet feeling that I can finally be at home is much more important.” Yaroslava Mahuchikh after winning the high jump title.

“I mixed up the start line – I put my blocks for the 200m instead of the 400m. My mother screamed it to me, but I couldn’t hear her – I thought she was talking about the lane number, not the start line. At the end of the race I felt really relaxed. It was close, but I am satisfied to get the next round.” Henriette Jaeger after her 400m heat.

“I wanted to come here and finish the collection of having the full set of world indoor medals…I still think I could have thrown further. I am not a big fan of indoors, everybody knows that. This is my indoor retirement. I probably won’t throw indoors anymore.” Chase Jackson after winning the world indoor shot put title.
