Four Women World leads at Tom Jones
GAINESVILLE (USA, Apr 17-18): In women’s events at the Tom Jones Memorial (WACT Challenger), four World leads were registered. In the 100 m big NR for IVB by Adaejah Hodge 10.77 (+1.7) was the first WL. Behind her, Jamaican Shenese Walker 10.80 PB and Alexis Brown 11.04. Also fast in Olympic Development race, Anavia Battle 11.07 (-1.7) over Amy Hunt 11.12.

In another race, the national U20 record for Guyana is 11.10 (-0.9) by Athaleyha Hinckson. Fastest 200 m time the day before by Shawnti Jackson 22.35 (+0.4, equaled her PB from 2023), in Olympic Development McKenzie Long 22.42 (-2.0) ahead of young Mariah Maxwell 22.44, Favor Ofili 22.46, Kayla White 22.61, and British stars Amy Hunt 22.63 with Dina Asher-Smith 23.03.

 

In the other race, Bahamian great Shaunae Miller-Uibo 22.64 (+0.7), and in the other race, 22.41 PB (+1.5) for Jamaican Gabrielle Matthews; however, the all-condition fastest was Yahnari Lyons in 22.34w (2.9).  Second World lead for Alexis Brown 707 PB (+1.4) in the long jump ahead of Bahamian Anthaya Charlton 683 (+0.7).

Third World lead for USA White in the 4×100 m 41.70, the fastest ever time before May (Jefferson-Wooden, Battle, K. White, S. Richardson). Second Pure Athletics 42.42 (Dockery/JAM, Lyston/JAM, Luckenkemper/GER, Haase/GER).

South Carolina won the 4×400 m in 3:23.42, fourth WL, as all four team members were from the USA (Garrett, Ford, James, Akins). African hammer record 75.72 by Anthonett Nabwe from Liberia. In the 400 m, Aaliyah Butler 50.10, in another race, Jamaican Dejanea Oakley 50.55. Alexandra Webster clocked 12.78 (+1.7) to win the hurdles, but was faster in heats 12.71 (+1.0). In the 400 m hurdles, Akala Garrett 54.46 ahead of Amelliah Birdow 54.96 PB, in another race, Fatoumata Diallo from Portugal 54.88.
