The second meet in China of the 2026 Diamond League was held in Xiamen, China, on May 23, 2026.

Some incredible performances, two that made history in Xiamen, shook us up a bit. So, here are my top five performances from Xiamen!

  1. Masai Russell, the Olympic champion, knows how to deliver. Last week, in Shanghai, Masai won the 100m hurdles in 12.25. In Xiamen, she runs 12.14 AR, the second fastest time EVER, just a bit behind Tobi Amusan’s 12.12 WR! What will she do next? Her 100m hurdling was both aggressive and nearly flawless!

  2. The Chinese fans were satisfied with Yan Ziyi’s amazing throw! Yan threw 71.74 meters, the second fastest throw in javelin history, only behind Barbora Spotakova’s 72.28m world record! The javelin is one of our most iconic events in our sport. Such a throw will send ripples around the culture of women javelin throwers!

Ziyi Yan (CHN) wins the Women’s Javelin with a distance of 71.74m in a new Diamond League Record, World Under 20 Record, Area Record, and Meeting Record, at the Diamond League Xiamen Meeting, the 2nd stop on the Wanda Diamond League circuit, on 23 May 2026

  3. Shericka Jackson is fit and in shape. She is also quite confident, after her 200-meter world record and win in Xiamen! Shericka’s win in Xiamen was such an improvement on the Shanghai run, with that superb 21.87 MR and WL. Her moving off the turn just blew the field away! Shout out to Shaunae Miller-Uibo, who moved into second with a fine stretch run.

  4. The 400 meters is one of the toughest events in sports. Collen Kebinatshipi, Botswana, took gold in the Tokyo 2025 World Championships. In Xiamen, Collen moved well, around the oval, running 43.92 for the full lap, and continues to impress, after his sub-10-second 100 meters earlier in the season (9.89). Collen should never be underestimated again.

  5. The 400-meter hurdle wars are on for 2026. Alison Dos Santos went out hard and just held off a hard-charging Karsten Warholm, with Dos Santos taking the WR in 46.72 to Warholm’s 46.82! Dos Santos’ hurdling is on, but so is Warholm. Watch this event in July!

Honorable Mention: Rajindra Campbell, coached by Ryan Crouser, set the Jamaican NR and took the win with a fine 22.34-meter throw in the men’s shot put, upsetting an impressive field. Ryan Crouser finished third with Jordan Geist in second (21.52 meters), with Crouser in third in 21.42 meters.
