Indian youth excelled at the nationals in Ludhiana; hopefully, follow-up will help them realize their potential.
The national youth athletics meet was held over three days at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana from 1st to 3rd September. The athletes showed tremendous potential, and one hopes they will be tracked going forward to realize it.
Neil Samraj of Tamil Nadu set two national records, clocking an impressive 10.46 seconds on the first day.
The second national record came on the final day when Alok Malik ran a blistering 13.40 to smash the national record. In addition to the two national records, there were numerous meet records and some astounding performances, like Bihars PemRaj jumping 7.54 m to eclipse Murali Hreesankar’s meet record of 7.49 m, and Madhya Pradesh javelin thrower Krishna Kumar throwing 79.92 m to shatter Rohit
Yadav’s meet record of 77.49 m and a short-statured Zubin Hogain from Assam, along with Himanshu Singh of Rajasthan, jointly jumped 2.09 m to break the meet record of 2.08 m.
These are just a few of the youths who showed high quality to be noticed and developed at the highest level. I am positive that, with the right inputs, these boys and girls will make the country proud.
