This interview was from nine years ago, with Sam Kendricks, Piotr Lisek, and Renaud Lavillenie. It is one of my favorite medal press conferences ever! Why? Well, medal press conferences let me give medalists their due and see behind the veil of the competition.
Sam Kendricks is quite articulate, Renaud Lavillenie is very good at explaining the competition, and Piotr Lisek, one of the best, always gives a great interview. I have to admit these three have been my interview favorites over the years.

Behind the scenes: The 2017, 2018, and 2019 pressers were recorded by Adam Johnson Eder and produced by Mike Deering. Adam would arrive early at the medal press conferences, find our seats, and prep for filming. It was a wonderful time. My brother, Brian Eder, photographed with Mike Deering in the stadium. Adam missed many competitions to ensure we had the right position and a chance to ask questions. These interviews age very well!
Adam, Mike, and Algernon Felice were The Shoe Addicts, the boutique content team that provided RunBlogRun videos from 2011-2020. They have over 1,000 RunBlogRun videos in their collections. They did videos for adidas, ASICS, Brooks, HOKA, NIKE, USATF, and 361 USA, among other brands. Mike Deering produces our long form video and clips to the present.
These press conferences ended during COVID-19, and some have returned. I believe that these are missed opportunities.
