Training with Scott Simmons and the quality runners in his group has elevated Sawan Barwal, Gulveer Singh, Ankita Dhyani, and Seema to new heights.
In a brief interaction with Scott this weekend, I asked Scott after he said he was busy with the Chicago Marathon. Did any of your runners compete? I asked Scott. He said yes, and it was very revealing for us interested in long-distance running.

“My trainee Yemane Hailesellaise finished 12th with a time of 2:07:08.” He added, “Rupinder, he is the boy Sawan Barwal trained with before running his 2 marathons in Rotterdam and Nagoya.”
This quality training with runners better than you helps raise not only the physical aspect but also gives Gulveer, Sawan, and the others the feeling that 207 is achievable for us too.
I don’t know the rationale behind Scott Simmons entering Gulveer in the Valencia Marathon on Dec 6, on a flat, fast course, in good weather, and with quality competition.

Adding the two tiny bits of information and the results shown by Gulveer throughout the year against quality competition in the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, I am willing to stick my neck out and predict Gulveer will run safely in the region of 208, which will be over a 3-minute improvement on Sawan Barwal’s 2:11:37 national record.
Quality partners in training and quality competition are the 2 basic ingredients, and Gulveer has it all. More and more experience for Indian runners will definitely make india a world power in distance running – it may not come soon, but it’s coming; it’s inevitable. Look out, follow, and subscribe the common comment all YouTubers now say before every program.
Looking forward to a bright future for distance running after a huge 48-year wait. Better late than never, Gulveer Singh is beginning the charge of the distance running brigade in india
