New York, Oct. 26, 2026 — New York Road Runners (NYRR), the nonprofit that “runs” New York City producing 60 annual adult and youth races, today announced that the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon—the best day of the year, in the best city in the world—will be broadcast live to nearly 500 million homes across more than 160+ countries and territories, including on ESPN2 nationally and ABC7/WABC-TV in the New York City area, Sunday, Nov. 1.

“The TCS New York City Marathon is one of the most iconic sporting events in the world, and we’re committed to bringing the extraordinary scale and energy of race day to audiences both locally and globally,” said Rob Simmelkjaer, New York Road Runners CEO. “As we celebrate 50 years of the marathon’s 5-boro course, we’re continuing to elevate how fans can watch, follow, and engage with the race across platforms. We want everyone to feel connected to the spirit of New York City’s five boroughs on Marathon Sunday.”

Here are the many ways that fans around the world can tune in and be a part of the action:

Returning to the broadcast are SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm, ESPN running events commentator John Anderson, Olympians Carrie Tollefson and Clayton Young, and Paralympians Kurt Fearnley and Amanda McGrory. Storm will return to host the broadcast, with Anderson, Tollefson, and Fearnley serving as analysts in the broadcast booth for all four professional races. ABC News correspondent Will Reeve will co-host with Storm at the finish line from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.

A team of reporters, including veteran track and field commentator Lewis Johnson, Peloton instructor and marathoner Becs Gentry, “Ali on the Run Show” host Ali Feller, and ABC7 Eyewitness News reporters Ryan Field, Sam Ryan, Kemberly Richardson, Pedro Rivera, Dani Beckstrom, and Brittany Bell, will provide coverage from the start, finish, along the course, and from above. Olympian Kara Goucher and veteran track and field commentator Paul Swangard will provide commentary for the international world feed.

The New York City Marathon’s first live national television broadcast aired on ABC in 1981, marking the beginning of a longstanding relationship with the network. Since 2013, ESPN2 and ABC7/WABC-TV have served as the New York City Marathon’s broadcast homes. For the third consecutive year, the marathon television broadcast, produced in coordination with 45 Live and distributed by IMG, a global sports marketing agency, received a New York Emmy Award for Sports Program – Live (Single Program) in September.

International broadcast partners secured by IMG for the race include ESPN International (Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean), Eurosport (Europe, India, and Southeast Asia), Fox Sports (Australia), TSN (Canada), SMG Great Sports (China), L’Équipe (France), Il Corriere dello Sport (Italy), TV Asahi (Japan), SuperSport (Sub-Saharan Africa), TVE and TV3 (Spain), and SVT (Sweden).

To celebrate runners of all paces, the Final Finishers livestream will air from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 1, on ABC7NY.com and the New York Road Runners YouTube channel. New York Road Runners welcomes Volvo Cars as the first-ever presenting partner of the Final Finishers program. Volvo Cars will help celebrate the determination and perseverance of back-of-the-pack runners as they complete the 26.2-mile journey, elevating the celebration with branded cheer materials and an inspiring video featuring Joan Benoit Samuelson (NYRR Hall of Fame Inductee in 2013) and Germán Silva (NYRR Hall of Fame Inductee in 2014) driving the course and reflecting on their race experiences that will air during the livestream.
