BAKU (AZE, May 17): Some interesting results from 2nd day of athletics at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games. World record holder and Olympic winner Ruth Jebet won the women steeple for Bahrain in 9:15.41. Second Algerian Amina Bettiche new national record 9:25.90 and third Tigist Mekonen running for Bahrain 9:26.00. Just 0.09 behind the podium for Tugba Guvenc from Turkey but her 9:26.09 is new life-time best. World indoor champion Kemi Adekoya of Bahrain missed in 400 m hurdles the World lead only by 0.02 with her 54.68 win. Second Nathaniel Onome from Nigeria 55.90 national U20 record. Moroccan Malika Akkaoui won the 800 m in 2:01.04 ahead of Halimah Nakaayi from Uganda 2:01.60 and Noelie Yarigo of Benin 2:02.47. In shot put Auriole Dongmo from Cameroon 17.75 beating Turkish record holder Emel Dereli 17.62 and Bahrain´s record holder Noora Jasim 17.02. Best male result was the 17.15 (0.0) personal best by Nazim Babayev of Azerbaijan who was last year still a U20 athlete. Second Azerbaijan´s new athlete former Cuban Alexis Copello 16.90 (+0.3) and bronze for Surinam´s Miguel Van Assen 16.64 (+0.9) NR. Ali Khamis Abbas won the 400 m for Bahrain 45.54 over Winston George from Guyana 45.69. Hurdles winner Ahmad Al-Moualed from Saudi Arabia clocked 13.68 (-1.1).
