NAIROBI (KEN): The new women steeple Kenyan record holder Cellphine Chespol has set her sights on winning her specialty at the World Championships in London after running the second fastest time in history with victory at Prefontaine Classic on Friday. “It’s only after I finished the race that my colleague Caroline Tuigong, who was the pacesetter told me that I had ran under nine minutes,” said the 18-year-old Chespol, a Form Four student at Riruta Central School, Nairobi. Her focus, even when she nearly looses a shoe, allowed her to not panic, regain her posiiton and set the NR and U20 WR for the steeplechase. I believe that she had gotten beneath the skin of Ruth Jebet. That means that Jebet is not running her races, but Cellipine’s.
