Wayde Van Niekerk just PBed over 100 meters, and Sandra Perkovic just threw the second farthest discus of the year! They both performed at the 22nd Velenje International Meet (EA Classic) on June 20, in Velenje, SLO. The story on the meet is from EME News.

VELENJE (SLO, Jun 20): Olympic gold medalist and World record holder at 400 m Wayde Van Niekerk showed top speed at the 22nd Velenje International Meet (EA Classic) on a brand new track. He won the 100 m and improved his PB from last year by 0.04 to 9.94 (+0.9). It is also 6th fastest time of 2017. His teammates clocked also good times, 2nd Emile Erasmus 10.12 and third Henricho Bruintjies 10.14. Another highlight was the discus by Olympic winner Sandra Perkovic who achieved 69.58 (2nd best of the season) along with 69.53 and 68.74. She said afterwards it was confirmation of her real shape in comparison to last DL in Stockholm. World medalist Amel Tuka won the 800 m in 1:45.34 over Antoine Gakeme 1:46.08. Isaac Makwala from Botswana was timed with excellent 45.12 in the 400 m. Turkish record holder and World leader Eda Tugsuz won the javelin 63.93 over home star Martina Ratej 61.14. Tina Sutej won women pole vault 440 and Robert Renner with 550 lost on count back with Ernest John Obiena from Philippines. Piotr Lisek no-heighted at 540. Australian javelin win for Hamish Peacock 81.82, in long jump U20 Cuban Maykel Masso 791 (0.0) and a double for Croatian Filip Mihaljevic in shot 20.14 and discus 62.38. Anita Horvat clocked Slovenian U23 400 m record 52.18 ahead of Agata Zupin who got Slovenian U20 record 52.29 (also 2nd best in Europe in junior category this year). South African Rikenette Steenkamp won the hurdles 13.03 (-0.9) and three women cleared 189 in high jump, on count back winning home Marusa Cernjul ahead of Croatian Ana Simic and Italy´s Erika Furlani.
