Here’s some of the highlights from EME News on the second day of London 2017.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Usain said: ‘Congratulations, you deserve it.’ And that’s from the man himself. He knows how hard I work. Tonightwas all about the W (win) and I managed to sneak it,” says Justin Gatlin. “My start is killing me, normally it gets better during the rounds but it didn’t come together,” said Usain Bolt.
RESULT OF THE DAY
Almaz Ayana 30:16.32 WL, with second half 14:24.96 better than championships record at the distance (fastest ever 2nd 5k in the 10k), best ever qualification shot put mark 22.14 by Tom Walsh.
SURPRISE OF THE DAY
Justin Gatlin winning the 100 m, discus podium with new names, Ujah and Forte out in 100 semis, last time medalist Tuka out in 800 heats. US record holder Berry out in hammer qualification.

100m: 12 years after his first World Championships victory in 2005, Gatlin won again. It is the longest span between the medals at 100 m.
DT: Gudzius became first World Junior champion to win WC DT with smallest winning margin of 2 cm at the WC. 69.21 is the best discus in London and 6th best result in history of WC.
LJ: Manyonga became first World Junior Champion to win the World Championships Gold at LJ. 4cm winning margin tied the smallest winning margin ever in WC LJ.
RSA became the first nation other than the US to win multiple medals at WC LJ.
Heptathlon: 22.86 200 m by KJT is second fastest in Heptathlon 200m. @dafneschippers ran 22,84 in 2013WC. Thiam and Rodriguez HJ 2.05, tied the highest HJ during the Heptathlon in World Championships.
10 000m: Ayana joined Tirunesh, Ribeiro and Tulu as one of only four runners who won both Olympic and World Championships 10000m. Ayana’s winning margain was 46.37, more than twice as large as previous record winning margin of 23.25 from 1993.
PV: 4.60 by Stefadini is the highest WPV qualifying mark in the history of WC, 4.50 by Moser tied the highest PV that failed to make the final
10000m: The best marks for place in WC was set for 2nd to (at least) 12th best in men race.
