Really chuffed to win today @great_run #greatscottishrun im still fighting to get back to my best and will continue to do so until my work is done. @callumrhawkins is one tough chap even on a tough day for him. It’ll serve him well in his long athletic career ahead of him.

GLASGOW (GBR, Oct 1): Chris Thompson defeated world marathon fourth-placer Callum Hawkins on a rainy morning in the half marathon at the Great Scottish Run. Thompson clocked 62:44 with Hawkins second in 63:18, just ahead of Tsegai Tewelde who clocked an identical time. Commonwealth marathon champion Filomena Cheyech won the women’s race in 70:17 from Charlotte Purdue (72:18) and Fionnuala Ross (74:26). Jo Pavey was seventh in 78:11.

RunBlogRun opines: Chris Thompson is one of the most dangerous runners on the planet, when he is healthy. He is also one of the funniest people I have ever met. We were in stitches a few years back on way from London Marathon expo. His sense of humor is well honed, and his desire to race and challenge himself gives honor to the sport. I recall a conversation with Coach Mark Rowland about Thommo, and when your coach loves you, well, that’s pretty good. Nice to see Thommo win at Great Scottish run today!

But the runs that Chris Thompson will always be remembered for was the European Athletics 10,000 meters, in 2010 where he showed total brass ones in his last 1000 meters. When Chris ran his PB for 10,000m in 2011 (27:27.36) at Payton Jordan, he was fully recovered, in this viewers eyes in minutes! In 2012, Thommo came back to Palo Alto and ran 13:11.54 for the 5,000 meters (he seems to like Palo Alto).

We’ve added a second instagram video just below, well, just because we like this guy!

Warning professional at work – please don’t try this at home………
