COLLEGE STATION (USA, Feb 25): On the final day of the SEC Conference Champs, Sydney McLaughlin set a world junior indoor record and world lead for the 400m of 50.52. After running 50.97 in the heat the previous day, the former world youth 400m hurdles champion went through 200m in 23.75 and went on to move to third on the continental senior all-time list. Former record of Sanya Richards was 50.82 from 2004. 19-year-old fellow American Lynna Irby, a senior, almost caught her as she came home in 50.62, lower than her outdoor PB. The latter then won the 200m in a world-leading 22.66 over Mikiah Brisco 22.81 and Kayelle Clarke 22.83 NR for Trinidad and Tobago. Jamaican Akeem Bloomfield won the 400m in 45.02 as Nathan Strother was second in 45.59. Kenzo Cotton won the 60 m in 6.59 and also won his final race in the 200 m 20.61, but in other one Mustaqeem Williams was faster with 20.55. World leader Grant Holloway won the hurldes in 7.53. In women 60 m Mikiah Brisco 7.10 ahead of Aleia Hobbs 7.14 and hurdles Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puertorico 7.98. US record holder Keturah Orji won the triple 14.18 ahead of French Yanis David 14.11 PB. Logan Boss cleared 191 in high jump. Sensational shot put improvement for 22 years old Josh Awotunde of Nigeria from 20.38 to 21.33 national indoor record. Texas AM won men´s 4×400 m in 3:02.35 ahead of Florida 3:02.65, women title for LSU 3:30.85.
