A modest young athlete, Shakima had a battle down the final stretch as Scottish veteran (GBR team) Eilidh Doyle fought Wimbley over that last straightaway. Shakima held onto the silver and Eilidh took the bronze medal, a global prize that she and her fans treasure. Shakima ran so very well, at a time in the race, when many young athletes have not had the experience on the global stage. Perhaps it was her coaching and training, but something clicked as Shakima ran a fantastic race in a global championship and took the silver.
