Here’s some behind the scenes notes from our friends and partners at EME News.

BOSTON FLASH BACK
BOSTON (USA): The number of finishers was 25 746 in total what was down from 26 411 in last year but very impressive taking into account the weather conditions. Among the finishers 14 142 men and 11 604 women. Informs RRW.
BOSTON (USA): Shalane Flanagan has said yesterday might have been her last ever appearance in the Boston Marathon, informs Runner’s World. “I don’t know what’s next but for sure I think this was my last Boston Marathon. I think that’s it. This course is really hard. The conditions are really hard. And I’m not averse to hard things, but I think I’m good with Boston. I think that was it,” she said. Flanagan finished seventh in 2:46:31.
BOSTON (USA): Galen Rupp dropped out of the Boston Marathon between the 18 and 19 mile-mark, informs USA Today. He was treated in the medical tent for symptoms of asthma and hypothermia.
BOSTON (USA): Six days after winning the Boston Marathon, Yuki Kawauchi will line up in the Gifu Half Marathon on Sunday, informs Japan Running News. His next marathon will be the ASICS Stockholm Marathon on 2 June.
BOSTON (USA): Meb Keflezighi completed the Boston Marathon in 3:00:13, informs USA Today. Keflezighi ran as a charity runner for Team MR8, which raises money for The Martin Richard Foundation, named after eight-year-old Richard who was killed in the bombings in 2013.
BOSTON (USA): Sarah Sellers spoke about her shock in realising she was second in the Boston Marathon yesterday: “I couldn’t really hear what people were saying,” she told Flotrack. “I was a little out of it. When someone said second, I was totally in disbelief.” The nurse, who was not on the elite list and had to pay her own entry fee, added of her how she had come from relative obscurity: “I never really reached my peak in college. I think I ran well, but I was kind of juggling a lot of clinical hours with nursing school, not a lot of sleep.”

The 122 Boston Marathon felt more like the Hunger Games, but the odds were ever in the 🇺🇸 favor. I guess hitting the wall and being humbled by Boston’s last 10k are part of the gamut of marathon experiences , but I will remember it as the year @des_linden won one of the most epic races in the event’s history- congrats on being the ultimate #bostonmarathon champ and major 👊🏻 to the 95.5 % of tough runners who finished the race! #bostonstrong #togetherforward #runyourworld (📸 by @sword)
