Mary Keitany made history last London where she ran like the proverbial bat out of hell, running at a 2:11 pace for awhile. The pace was fearless, as Mary Keitany went from mile to mile, running at a pace seen only by Paula Radcliffe in her WR runs.

The main highlights from the 2025 London Marathon

ASSEFA, SAWE DOMINATE TCS LONDON MARATHON

Mary Keitany is quite confident in herself. Last April, right after the new WR marathon that she ran in the Virgin Money London Marathon, she took at shot at the Breaking 2 record, noting that no such program was offered for women marathoners. She was serious about her unhappiness with the lack of equality, which she saw as a lack of respect for women’s marathoning.

This year, Mary Keitany is ready to roll, once again. Her RAK race, which this author witnessed, was only five seconds off the world record for the half marathon. Her 1:04:55 was a great fitness test for her training for London.

The weather portends to be warm. Will it affect Mary Keitany? That waits to be seen. @runblogrun believes that Mary Keitany, on a perfect day, can run a high 2:14:50 race. Will this be the day? We will just have to see? Will Tirunesh Dibaba catch a fading Mary Keitany? Again, we will have to wait until we see on Sunday.

For now, please listen to the audio interview of Mary Keitany, by our friend, Andy Edwards or Race News Service.
