LONDON (GBR): Reece Prescod, winner of the 100m at the Shanghai Diamond says he is happy to be a ‘late bloomer’, having missed out on a successful junior career because of injuries. In an interview with telegraph.co.uk, he said: “It was annoying but it was teaching me a lot of hard lessons. I feel like the injuries helped me with learning about mental toughness. It gave me a lot of time to focus on myself and just observe things.I missed out on all the youth and junior competitions, so by the time everything came right I’d had three or four years of proper training. Looking back now, I wouldn’t want to have gone to all those competitions. It’s better to be in the senior ranks than a junior who has not progressed.”
