Renaud Lavillenie may be the finest competitor in our sport. Lavillenie has the absolute world record in the men’s pole vault. Lavillenie is focused on the European Championships this year, but the Paris DL is big deal for Lavillenie each year. A fine pole vault field with Sam Kendricks, Mondo Duplantis, Piotr Lisek, Raphael Holzdeppe, Thiago de Braz Silva, and Renaud. Consider this, two Olympic gold medalists, European champions, and World Champion gold medalist from 2013, 2015, 2017 will all be there.

Renaud LAVILLENIE (FRA) POLE VAULT – 19h32

« The MEETING de PARIS is extremely important for me. It’s THE meting for us, French athletes. We don’t have so many opportunities to compete in front of a home crowd, so I think we need to make the best of it and to enjoy every moment. I have a special memory of this meeting in 2016, just a few weeks after Rio Olympics. The crowd supported me in an amazing way and I jumped 5,93 m. With Sam (Kendricks) and Armand (Duplantis), we are very good friends. Armand stayed for 10 days in Clermont-Ferrand training with me after the meeting in Montreuil. About tomorrow, I want to have fun, work well and I want to win. »

@nike 👌🏼 📸: @jugalland
