This is the second piece by Stuart Weir for Monaco Diamond League. Already, on Saturday morning, Stuart is on the way to London for the London Diamond League meeting. Here are his high and lows for the Monaco meeting.

Ups and Downs at Herculis

The broadest smile in track: Marie Josee Ta Lou – well if I won as often as she does, I would smile too!

What a difference a week makes: Holly Bradshaw won the Pole Vault at the Athletics World Cup with 4.75. In Monaco she failed three times at 4.40.

What a difference a week makes, the other way round: In London Queen Harrison hit the first hurdle. This week she hit none of them and won.

Best presser Q and A: Question to Sandi Morris:” How is the Monitor lizard?” Morris: “Which one. I’ve got three lizards now as well the three snakes”

The security gone mad moment: Sandi Morris “jogged after the dude with the finger food tray and the police intercepted me thinking I was going for the Prince of Monaco… I JUST WANTED CHICKEN”

Best Innovation of the meet: The Big shot, men and women’s shot put by the harbor on the night before the meet, with Prince Albert present. In fact everyone was watching except for the police who were ensuring Sandi Morris did not get any chicken.

Worst innovation: Pom Pom girls -“dreadful, degrading, backwards” was the verdict on twitter.

Michelin award: Best food of the year in the media center

Low moment of the night: The Wifi dying in the media seats.

Stellar performance on the night: Beatrice Chepkeoch running a world record in the 3000m Steeplechase

Best race of the night: There were too many! Women’s 800, 400, men’s 1500?

The overshadowed performance of the night: Shaunae Miller-Uibo’s 48.97, which would have been the performance of the night at most meets.

Most surprised athlete of the night: Margaret Wambui who ran 1:59.70 in the Women’s 800m tonight and finished 11th.
