Gladys Cherono won the 2018 BMW Berlin Marathon in a new PB and course record of 2:18:11. Cherono has been road racing since 2004, and on the global scene, since 2012. With serious track PBs of 14:47.12 at 5000m and 30:29.23 for the 10,000m. In 2012, Gladys Cherono won the 5000m and 10,000m at the African Championships. In 2013, Gladys took the silver medal at 10,000m in Moscow, behind Tirunesh Dibaba.

Gladys Cherono’s speed and endurance come to fruition in her running at the half marathon and marathon. In 2005, Gladys’ first major road race win was over the half marathon, at 2005 Media Maratón Santa Pola, where she ran 71:19. In the 2016 RAK Half Marathon, Gladys ran her PB of 66:07. In 2018, Gladys opened the year with a 67:13 at the RAK Half Marathon. In defending her 2017 Berlin Marathon title, Gladys Cherono set a marathon PB of 2:18:11 and the new course record, as well as the world leader.
