The 2019 European Indoor Championships were held March 1-3, 2019 at the Emirates Arena to a sell out crowd. Some fantastic performances and several new stars emerged. Just one week ago now, we thought that we would peak back in the EME News time machine and see what editor Alfonz Juck found during his visit to Glasgow.

RESULT OF THE DAY
Katarina Johnson-Thompson fourth best ever pentathlon score, Laura Muir 8:30.61 is fastest ever indoor championships time (and 28.32 last 200 m).
FAVORITE FALLS
Konrad Bukowiecki as title defender out in qualification. Two Berlin 2018 medalists out in HJ qualification (Ivanyuk, Nedasekau).
SURPRISE OF THE DAY
Italian high jump ladies (Vallortigara, Trost) out in qualification. Low level of men´s 400m where 47+ was enough for finals.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
It was tough. But I just knew I could not lose it here. It is my home track and I know it so well. To win in Glasgow is one of the best highlights of my career – if not the best,” Laura Muir.
“It’s been a great day, it’s been amazing. I was going to say I couldn’t really ask for more, but I felt in the long jump I could have maybe gone a bit more. I was really happy with how it went overall,” Katarina Johnson Thompson.
