BOSTON, Mass. (June 4, 2019) – Three of the fastest women in the world, Tori Bowie, Aleia Hobbs and Murielle Ahouré, will face-off over 100m at the adidas Boost Boston Games, organizers announced today.

The adidas Boost Boston Games are North America’s first and only “street meet,” bringing world-class track and field out of the traditional stadium and onto a temporary straightaway track in the heart of one of America’s most iconic cities.

Tori Bowie returns to the adidas Boost Boston Games as defending champion in the 100m. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero, Bowie won gold, silver and bronze medals in the 4x100m, 100m and 200m, respectively. In 2017, Bowie set a world best for 150m at the adidas Boost Boston Games and went on to win gold over 100m at the IAAF World Championships.

Making her adidas Boost Boston Games debut in the 100m will be Aleia Hobbs. Hobbs capped of a stellar 2018 season with wins in both the NCAA and USATF Championships at 100m and ended the year as the second-fastest woman in the world over 100m. Last month, Hobbs anchored Team USA to gold in the 4x100m at the IAAF World Relays in Yokohama, Japan and won her first IAAF Diamond League race in Shanghai, China.

Challenging both Bowie and Hobbs will be Murielle Ahouré of Ivory Coast. Ahouré is the reigning IAAF World Indoor Champion at 60m and won silver medals at 100m and 200m at the 2013 IAAF World Championships. Ahouré ended her 2018 campaign as strongly as she started it, winning the IAAF Diamond League title at 100m at the final in Zürich, Switzerland.

Jereem Richards and Zharnel Hughes, both gold medalists from 2018, will clash in the men’s 200m. Richards won gold over 200m at last year’s Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. The 2017 IAAF World Championships bronze medalist, Richards has featured in Trinidad & Tobago’s gold medal-winning 4x400m relay team, both at the 2017 IAAF World Championships and last month at the IAAF World Relays in Japan. Hughes is the defending adidas Boost Boston Games champion at 100m and went on to win gold for Great Britain in both the 100m and 4x100m relay at the 2018 European Championships.

Noah Lyles, already announced to return to the adidas Boost Boston Gamesin the men’s 150m, will be challenged by two recent international medalists: Steven Gardiner of the Bahamas, who won silver over 400m at the 2017 IAAF World Championships, and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake, who took silver for Great Britain & Northern Ireland in the 200m at last year’s European Championships.

The women’s long jump, also set for the afternoon of Sunday, June 16, will feature a mix of international and local stars. Returning to the long jump in Copley Square is Shara Proctor of Great Britain. Proctor won the silver medal in the long jump at the 2015 IAAF World Championships and last year won bronze at the European Championships. Joining Proctor will be her compatriot Jazmin Sawyers. Sawyers took silver in the long jump at the 2016 European Championships and finished eighth in the 2016 Olympic Games.

Squaring off against both Proctor and Sawyers in the long jump will be New England native Kate Hall. Hall, originally from Casco, Maine, won the long jump at both the 2017 NCAA Championships and 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships. For the last year, Hall has been serving as an assistant coach at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine.

Earlier in the day, the public will participate in the new adidas Boost Back Bay Mile races, running through Back Bay and finishing on the same straightaway track used by the fastest men and women in the world in the adidas Boost Boston Games. The races will be divided by age group. Registration is available at www.adidasboostboston.com.
