The NYRR Fifth Avenue Mile is an amazing event. It is the actual close, in my mind, of the athletic season. This year, it is being held prior to Doha World Championships (Sept 26-Oct 5). The EME news piece is below:

NEW YORK (USA, Sep 8): Jenny Simpson and Nick Wills extended their dominance at the New Balance Fifth Avenue Mile, earning hard-fought wins in close battles down the famed Manhattan roadway. For Simpson, it was a record-extending eighth overall (and seventh consecutive) title in the event, while Willis broke the record for most men’s victories with his fifth win. A record 9172 runners completed what was the 39th edition of the race, according to race founders and organizers New York Road Runners. Simpson clocked 4:16.1 course record ahead of Elinor Purrier 4:16.2 and Rebecca Mehra 4:22.0. Willis and second Briton Chris O´Hare clocked identical 3:51.7, third Sam Prakel 3:51.8 and followed by Australian Morgan McDonald (3:52.8) and American Andy Bayer (3:53.2). From RRW.
