Here is our update for Miles 1-6 for both elite fields….

Men’s elite field
The fifteen runners in the elite men’s pack, including two pace makers, hit the mile in
4:51, with two miles in 9:42, and three miles in 14:26. Four miles was hit in 19:12, five miles in 24:00 and six miles in 28:49, and 10k in 29:50. The conditions are very good, and the pace is faster than when Khannouchi ran his world record. By this time the pack, now down to nine, hit the ten kilometer mark, Fujiwara of Japan was gone, and the men’s lead pack is an all Kenyan crowd. The pack started at fifteen, then by three miles to thirteen, then by the 10k, to a pack of nine.
In the lead pack, Boaz Chegboiywo of Kenay, Emmanual Mutai, David Mandago, Evans Cheruiyot , William Kipsang and Richard Limo are the key players in the pack. Note that the miles were 4:42-4:48. Luke Kipkosgie has dropped off the back of the pack…
Women’s elite field
Constantina Tomescu-Dita of Romania, who ran so brilliantly in Beijing, is doing her fall double. With Kate O’Neill and Colleen de Reuck of the US in attendance. The first six miles for women were covered as follows: 6 minutes for the first mile, 12:04 for two miles, 17:51 for three miles, four miles in 23:42, five miles in 29:28, and six miles in 35:16, with 10k covered in 36:30.
Tomescu Dita looked a bit impatient in the pack and is moving around a bit, from the lead to as far back as eighth….
