The 26th Banskobystrická latka (EA Indoor Special Premium) is one of those amazingly creative and exciting single event competitions, that combine an enthused crowd, a fine site and some of the finest athletes in their events. What these events need most is a savvy global sponsor who sees the opportunity in taking the event global on terrestrial and streaming TV.

Zayas and Wilson 233

BANSKA BYSTRICA (SVK, Feb 11): Cuba’s Luis Zayas and Jamal Wilson from the Bahamas matched the world lead of 2.33m at the 26th Banskobystrická latka (EA Indoor Special Premium) with Zayas winning the competition on countback by virtue of first-time clearances at 2.20m, 2.25m, 2.31m and 2.33m. For both personal bests and Olympic standard. Great Britain’s Tom Gale, who cleared 2.33m in Hustopece at the weekend, continued his good form with a third place finish with a third-time clearance at 2.31m with Poland’s Sylwester Bednarek fourth at 2.28m. Eight jumpers cleared 2.25m or higher in the men’s competition. On the women’s side, Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh extended her winning streak at 1.96m before three attempts at 2.00m. She led a Ukrainian 1-2-3 from Iryna Herashchenko and Yuliya Levchenko, who were separated on countback at 1.93m, with Slovenia’s Marusa Cernjul fourth at 1.90m.
