National records are important. I try and recognize records around the world because it is important for American fans to appreciate how fortunate we are in the sport of athletics, and how global our sport truly is. Looking forward to see Leonardo Fabbri throw even farther.

STOCKHOLM (SWE, Feb 11): At the Sparet GP (EA Indoor Classic) in Stockholm, Leonardo Fabbri surpassed Alessandro Andrei’s long-standing Italian indoor shot put record with 21.59m to beat Norway’s Marcus Thomsen by more than one metre with 20.55m. Kenya’s Collins Kipruto continued his unbeaten start to the season with victory in a competitive 800m in 1:46.96 from former world champion Pierre-Ambroise Bosse 1:47.52 and Andreas Kramer (1:47.90) and Kuwait’s Youssef Karam also extended his win streak in the 400m in 46.58. Other track highlights included Tobi Amusan winning the 60m hurdles in 8.16, Ethiopia’s Kebede Endale beating Kenya’s Kumari Taki in the 1500m, 3:42.37 to 3:42.50, and Benin’s Noelle Yarigo winning the 800m in 2:03.52. There were also notable home wins for Angelica Bengtsson in the pole vault with 4.62m and Fanny Roos in the shot put with 18.19m. There were also two Serbian wins: Milica Gardasevic won the long jump with 6.40m and Aleksa Kijanovic won the 60m in a Serbian record of 6.67 from Brit Sam Gordon (6.67) and European U23 100m champion Henrik Larsson (6.68).
