Joshua Cheptegai set a new WR for 5k at 12:51 this past Sunday. Joshua ran by himself after 1k and was amazingly consistent, running a 2:36 for 1k, and then increased the pace. The next goal is the World half marathon in Gdansk, Poland, on 29 March.
KAMPALA (UGA): After breaking the world 5km record in Monaco, Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei will be chasing success at the World Half Marathon Championships in Gdynia on 29 March. “Coming off a very successful 2019 it has been the perfect start to his season to show that his approach is already paying off. He is very excited to see what the World Championships has in store,” said his manager Jurrie van der Velden. Cheptegei will be making his debut at the distance next moth. From World Athletics.
